حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ النَّمَرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ أَبِي مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الشَّجَرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَتَاهُ قَوْمٌ بِصَدَقَتِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى آلِ فُلَانٍ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَتَاهُ أَبِي بِصَدَقَتِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى آلِ أَبِي أَوْفَى .

My father was one of those Companions who took the oath of allegiance at the hand of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم beneath the tree. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said when the people brought him their sadaqah: O Allah, bless the family of so and so. When my father brought him his sadaqah he said O Allah bless the family of Abu Awfa.
