حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُعِينٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا قَزْعَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْمُهَاجِرِ الْمَكِّيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُئِلَ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَرَى الْبَيْتَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا كُنْتُ أَرَى أَحَدًا يَفْعَلُ هَذَا إِلَّا الْيَهُودَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ حَجَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَفْعَلُهُ .

Jabir Ibn Abdullah رضی اللہ عنہما was asked about a man who looks at the House (the Kabah) and raises his hands (for prayer). He replied: I did not find anyone doing this except the Jews. We performed hajj along with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, but he did not do so.
