حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا فَتَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَكَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ لَأَلْبَسَنَّ ثِيَابِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَتْ دَارِي عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَأَنْظُرَنَّ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَانْطَلَقْتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ خَرَجَ مِنْ الْكَعْبَةِ هُوَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ وَقَدِ اسْتَلَمُوا الْبَيْتَ مِنَ الْبَابِ إِلَى الْحَطِيمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ وَضَعُوا خُدُودَهُمْ عَلَى الْبَيْتِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسْطَهُمْ .

When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم conquered Makkah, I said (to myself): I shall put on my clothes, and my house lay on the way, I shall watch how the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم behaves. So I went out. I saw that the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and his Companions had come out from the Kabah and embraced the House (the Kabah) from its entrance (al-Bab) to al-Hatim. They placed their cheek on the House (the Kabah) while the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was amongst them.
