حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُرَيِّ بْنِ قَطَرِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ أَحَدُنَا أَصَابَ صَيْدًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَيْسَ مَعَهُ سِكِّينٌ أَيَذْبَحُ بِالْمَرْوَةِ وَشِقَّةِ الْعَصَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَمْرِرِ الدَّمَ بِمَا شِئْتَ وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.

I said: Messenger of Allah, tell me when one of us catches game and has no knife; may he slaughter with a flint and a splinter of stick. He said: Cause the blood to flow with whatever you like and mention Allah's name.
