حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُئِلَ قَتَادَةُ عَنْ التَّيَمُّمِ فِي السَّفَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَدِّثٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ .

Qatadah was asked about tayammum during a journey. He said: A traditionist reported to me from al-Shabi from Abdur-Rahman bin Abza on the authority of Ammar bin Yasir who reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: (He should wipe) up to the elbows.
