حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعِكْرِمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُمَا كَانَا يَكْرَهَانِ الْبُسْرَ وَحْدَهُ وَيَأْخُذَانِ ذَلِكَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْشَى أَنْ يَكُونَ الْمُزَّاءُ الَّذِي نُهِيَتْ عَنْهُ عَبْدُ القَيْسِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ لِقَتَادَةَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا الْمُزَّاءُ ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ النَّبِيذُ فِي الْحَنْتَمِ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ.

They disapprove of drink made exclusively from unripe dates. This they reported on the authority of Ibn Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما said: I am afraid it may not be muzza from which (the people of) Abd al-Qais were prohibited. I asked Qatadah: What is muzza’? He replied: Drink of dates made in a green jar and vessels smeared with pitch.
