حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الطُّفَاوِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ فِي قَوْلِهِ:‏‏‏‏ خُذِ الْعَفْوَ [سورة الأعراف آية 199]، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أُمِرَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ الْعَفْوَ مِنْ أَخْلَاقِ النَّاسِ .

Explaining the Quranic verse “hold to forgiveness”, Abdullah bin Al-Zubair said: The prophet of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was commanded to hold to forgiveness from the conduct of the people.
