حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ ابْنَا أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ فِطْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُنْذِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنْ وُلِدَ لِي مِنْ بَعْدِكَ:‏‏‏‏ وَلَدٌ أُسَمِّيهِ بِاسْمِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأُكَنِّيهِ بِكُنْيَتِكَ،‏‏‏‏ قال:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ ،‏‏‏‏ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

Ali as saying: I said: Messenger of Allah! tell me if a son is born to me after your death, may I give him your name and your kunyah? He replied: Yes. The transmitter Abu Bakr did not mention the words I said . Instead, he said: Ali رضی اللہ عنہ said to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم.
