حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ أَبَاهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ بِنَحْوِ مَا تَقْرَءُونَ وَالْعَادِيَاتِ وَنَحْوِهَا مِنَ السُّوَرِ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى أَنَّ ذَاكَ مَنْسُوخٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ.

His father (‘Umrah) used to recite the surahs as you recite like Wa’l-Adiyat (surah c). Abu Dawud said: This indicates that those (traditions indicating long surahs) are abrogated, and this is more sound tradition.
