حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْخَصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرِيَّةِ بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ يَحْيَى الْعَرِيَّةُ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ الرَّجُلُ ثَمَرَ النَّخَلَاتِ بِطَعَامِ أَهْلِهِ رُطَبًا بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا.

Zaid bin Thabit رضی اللہ عنہ told me that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave a concession regarding the sale of the estimated harvest of 'Araya return for dried dates. (Sahih) Yahya (one of the narrators) said: The 'Araya is when a man purchases dates on the trees for food that his family has that is ripe, by estimating them (the dates).
