حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَزِدْنِي عِلْمًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ .

The Messenger of Allah used to say: 'Allahumma, anfa'ni bima 'allamtani, wa 'allimnima yanfa'uni, wa zidni 'ilman. Wa'l-hamdu Lillahi 'ala kulli hal. [O Allah, benefit me by that which You have taught me, and teach me that which will benefit me, and increase my knowledge. Praise is to Allah in all circumstances].'
