حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ فِيمَ الرَّمَلَانُ الْآنَ؟ وَقَدْ أَطَّأَ اللَّهُ الْإِسْلَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَنَفَى الْكُفْرَ وَأَهْلَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَايْمُ اللَّهِ مَا نَدَعُ شَيْئًا كُنَّا نَفْعَلُهُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

“I heard ‘Umar رضی اللہ عنہ say: ‘Why do they perform Ramal now, when Allah has established Islam and done away with disbelief and its people? By Allah,* we will not give up something that we used to do at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).’”
