حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ الرَّجُلُ يَعْمَلُ الْعَمَلَ لِلَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ فَيُحِبُّهُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ؟،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ذَلِكَ عَاجِلُ بُشْرَى الْمُؤْمِنِ .

“I said to the Prophet (ﷺ): ‘(What do you say about when) a man does a deed for the sake of Allah, and people love him for it?’ He said: ‘That is the immediate glad tidings of the believer.’”
