حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ أَنَّ يَدَ السَّارِقِ لَمْ تُقْطَعْ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِلَّا فِي ثَمَنِ مِجَنٍّ حَجَفَةٍ أَوْ تُرْسٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : مِثْلَهُ.

The hand of a thief was not cut off during the lifetime of the Prophet (ﷺ) except for stealing something equal to a shield in value. A similar hadith is narrated from `Aisha رضی اللہ عنہا through another chain.
