وحَدَّثَنَاه إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنِي نُبَيْهُ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ، رَمِدَتْ عَيْنُهُ، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَكْحُلَهَا، فَنَهَاهُ أَبَانُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ «وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُضَمِّدَهَا بِالصَّبِرِ» وَحَدَّثَ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ.
