أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَفْصٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي مُتَرَبِّعًا ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ:‏‏‏‏ لَا أَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ غَيْرَ أَبِي دَاوُدَ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا أَحْسِبُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِلَّا خَطَأً وَاللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَعْلَمُ.

I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) praying while sitting cross-legged. Abu Abdur Rahman (An Nasa'i) said: I do not know of anyone who reported this hadith other than Abu Dawood and he trustworthy, and I do not consider this hadith to be but a mistake, and Allah knows best.
