أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُئِلَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ مَعَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسِيرُ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ حِينَ دَفَعَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَيُسَيِّرُ نَاقَتَهُ فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ .

Usamah bin Zaid رضی اللہ عنہما was asked - while I was sitting with him: 'How did the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم travel during the Farewell Pilgrimage when he moved on?' He said: 'He rode at a moderate pace, and if he found some open space, he would gallop.'
