أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ اخْتَلَفَا فِي الْمَرْأَةِ تُنْفَسُ بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ زَوْجِهَا بِلَيَالٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ:‏‏‏‏ آخِرُ الْأَجَلَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا نُفِسَتْ فَقَدْ حَلَّتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَا مَعَ ابْنِ أَخِي يَعْنِي:‏‏‏‏ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَبَعَثُوا كُرَيْبًا مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ إِلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ يَسْأَلُهَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَهُمْ فَأَخْبَرَهُمْ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ وَلَدَتْ سُبَيْعَةُ بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ زَوْجِهَا بِلَيَالٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَدْ حَلَلْتِ .

'Abdullah bin 'Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما and Abu Salamah bin 'Abdur-Rahman disagreed concerning a woman who gave birth one day after her husband died. 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما said: (She should wait) for the longer of the two periods. Abu Salamah said: When she has given birth, it becomes permissible for her to remarry. Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ came and said: I agree with my brother's son -meaning Abu Salamah bin 'Abdur-Rahman. They sent Kuraib, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما , to Umm Salamah رضی اللہ عنہا to ask her about that. He came back to them and told them that she said: Subai'ah رضی اللہ عنہا gave birth one day after her husband died; she mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah and he said: It has become permissible for you to marry.
