حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْلَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَبَّرَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْعِيدِ سَبْعًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَخَمْسًا .

The Prophet (ﷺ) said the Takbir seven times and five times in the ‘Eid prayer.

It was narrated from ‘Amr bin Shu’aib, from his father, from his grandfather, that

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَثْمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَبَّرَ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ:‏‏‏‏ سَبْعًا فِي الْأُولَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَخَمْسًا فِي الْآخِرَةِ .

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said the Takbir in the ‘Eid prayers, seven times in the first Rak’ah and five times in the second.

Kathir bin ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin ‘Awf رضی اللہ عنہ narrated, from his father, from his grandfather, that

حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَعُقَيْلٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَبَّرَ فِي الْفِطْرِ وَالْأَضْحَى سَبْعًا وَخَمْسًا سِوَى تَكْبِيرَتَيِ الرُّكُوعِ .

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said the Takbir seven and five times in (the prayer for ‘Eid) Fitr and Adha, apart from the Takbir for Ruku’ (bowing).

It was narrated from ‘Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا that

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَهَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ .

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite “Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High,” [Al-A’la (87)] and “Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming?” [Al-Ghashiyah (88)] in the ‘Eid prayer.

It was narrated from Nu’man bin Bashir رضی اللہ عنہما that

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ خَرَجَ عُمَرُ يَوْمَ عِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بِـقَ وَاقْتَرَبَتْ .

“Umar رضی اللہ عنہ went out on the day of ‘Eid and sent word to Abu Waqid Al-Laithi asking what the Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite on this day. He said: ‘Qaf [Qaf (50)] and ‘Iqtarabat’.” [Al-Qamar (54)]

It was narrated that ‘Ubaidullah bin ‘Abdullah said

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعُ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَهَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ .

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite in the ‘Eid prayer “Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High.” [Al-A’la (87)] and “Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming?” [Al-Ghashiyah (88)]

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما that

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا كَاهِلٍ وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَحَدَّثَنِي أَخِي عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَحَبَشِيٌّ آخِذٌ بِخِطَامِهَا .

“I saw Abu Kahil رضی اللہ عنہ , and he was a Companions, and my brother narrated to me that he said: ‘I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) delivering the sermon atop his she-camel, and an Ethiopian was holding onto its reins.’”

It was narrated that Isma’il bin Abu Khalid said

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَائِذٍ هُوَ أَبُو كَاهِلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ حَسْنَاءَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَحَبَشِيٌّ آخِذٌ بِخِطَامِهَا .

“I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) delivering the sermon atop a beautiful she-camel, and an Ethiopian was holding onto its reins.”

It was narrated that Qais bin ‘Aidh رضی اللہ عنہ, who was Abu Kahil, said

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ نُبَيْطٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ حَجَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ .

His father performed Hajj and said: “I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) delivering the sermon atop his camel.”

It was narrated from Salamah bin Nubait رضی اللہ عنہ that

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْمُؤَذِّنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُكَبِّرُ بَيْنَ أَضْعَافِ الْخُطْبَةِ يُكْثِرُ التَّكْبِيرَ فِي خُطْبَةِ الْعِيدَيْنِ .

“The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say the Takbir between the two sermons and he used to say the Takbir a great deal in the sermon of ‘Eid.”

It was narrated from ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Sa’d bin ‘Ammar bin Sa’d, the Mu’adhdhin, that his father narrated, from his father, that his grandfather said

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْرُجُ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَقِفُ عَلَى رِجْلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَسْتَقْبِلُ النَّاسَ وَهُمْ جُلُوسٌ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ تَصَدَّقُوا تَصَدَّقُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَكْثَرُ مَنْ يَتَصَدَّقُ النِّسَاءُ بِالْقُرْطِ وَالْخَاتَمِ وَالشَّيْءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ كَانَتْ حَاجَةٌ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَبْعَثَ بَعْثًا يَذْكُرُهُ لَهُمْ وَإِلَّا انْصَرَفَ .

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to go out on the day of ‘Eid and lead the people in praying two Rak’ah, then he would say the Salam and stand on his two feet facing the people while they were sitting down. He would say: ‘Give in charity. Give in charity.’ Those who gave most in charity were the women, (they would give) earrings and rings and things. If he wanted to send out an expedition he would mention it, otherwise he would leave.”

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri رضی اللہ عنہ said

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَحْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ أَوْ أَضْحَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَطَبَ قَائِمًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَعَدَ قَعْدَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ .

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out on the Day of Al-Fitr or Al-Adha, and delivered a sermon standing up. Then he sat down briefly, then stood up again.”

It was narrated that Jabir رضی اللہ عنہ said

حَدَّثَنَا هَدِيَّةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَضَرْتُ الْعِيدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصَلَّى بِنَا الْعِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَدْ قَضَيْنَا الصَّلَاةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَجْلِسَ لِلْخُطْبَةِ فَلْيَجْلِسْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ فَلْيَذْهَبْ .

“I attended the ‘Eid prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He led us in offering the ‘Eid prayer, then he said: ‘I have finished the prayer. Whoever wants to sit (and listen to) the sermon, then let him sit, and whoever wants to leave, then let him leave.’”

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Sa’ib رضی اللہ عنہ said

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمُ الْعِيدَ لَمْ يُصَلِّ قَبْلَهَا وَلَا بَعْدَهَا .

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out and led them in the ‘Eid prayer, and he did not pray before it or after it.

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما that

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الطَّائِفِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمْ يُصَلِّ قَبْلَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا بَعْدَهَا فِي عِيدٍ .

The Prophet (ﷺ) did not pray before or after the ‘Eid prayer.

It was narrated from ‘Amr bin Shu’aib, from his father, from his grandfather, that

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ جَمِيلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الرَّقِّيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الْعِيدِ شَيْئًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا رَجَعَ إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ .

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did not pray before the ‘Eid prayer, but when he went back to his house he would pray two Rak’ah.”

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri رضی اللہ عنہ said

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ يَخْرُجُ إِلَى الْعِيدِ مَاشِيًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَرْجِعُ مَاشِيًا .

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to go out to the ‘Eid prayers walking, and he would come back walking.”

‘Abdur-Rahman bin Sa’d bin ‘Ammar bin Sa’d said: “My father told me, from his father, from his grandfather, that

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْعُمَرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ يَخْرُجُ إِلَى الْعِيدِ مَاشِيًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَرْجِعُ مَاشِيًا .

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to go out to the ‘Eid prayers walking, and come back walking.”

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar رضی اللہ عنہما said

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَارِثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ أَنْ يُمْشَى إِلَى الْعِيدِ .

“It is part of the Sunnah to walk to ‘Eid (prayers).”

It was narrated that ‘Ali رضی اللہ عنہ said

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مِنْدَلٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ يَأْتِي الْعِيدَ مَاشِيًا .

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to come to ‘Eid prayers walking.

It was narrated from Muhammad bin ‘Ubaidullah bin Abu Rafi’, from his father, from his grandfather, that

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى الْعِيدَيْنِ سَلَكَ عَلَى دَارِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ عَلَى أَصْحَابِ الْفَسَاطِيطِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ الْأُخْرَى طَرِيقِ بَنِي زُرَيْقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ عَلَى دَارِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَدَارِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ إِلَى الْبَلَاطِ .

When the Prophet (ﷺ) went out on the two ‘Eid, he would pass by the house of Sa’eed bin Abul-‘As, then by the people of the tent, then he would leave by a different route, via Banu Zuraiq, then he would go out by the house of ‘Ammar bin Yasir and the house of Abu Hurairah to Balat.”

‘Abdur-Rahman bin Sa’d bin ‘Ammar bin Sa’d said: “My father told me, from his father, from his grandfather, that

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَخْرُجُ إِلَى الْعِيدِ فِي طَرِيقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَرْجِعُ فِي أُخْرَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَزْعُمُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ .

He used to go out to the ‘Eid prayers via one route, and return via another, and he said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to do that.

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar رضی اللہ عنہما that

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ فُلَيْحِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الزُّرَقِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى الْعِيدِ رَجَعَ فِي غَيْرِ الطَّرِيقِ الَّذِي أَخَذَ فِيهِ .

Then the Prophet (ﷺ) went out to ‘Eid (prayers), he would return via another route than the first one he took.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ that

حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَامِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ شَهِدَ عِيَاضٌ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عِيدًا بِالْأَنْبَارِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا لِي لَا أَرَاكُمْ تُقَلِّسُونَ كَمَا كَانَ يُقَلَّسُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

“Iyad Al-Ash’ari was in Anbar at the time of ‘Eid, and he said: ‘Why is it that I do not see you engaged in Taqlis as was done in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?’”
