I recited to Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا : 'So it is not a sin on him who performs Hajj or Umrah (Pilgrimage) of the House to Perform the going Tawaf) between them (as-Safa and Al-Marwah) I said: 'I do not care if I do not go between tham?' She said: 'What a bad thing you have said!' People at the time of the Jahiliyyah used not to go between them, but when Islam came and the Quran was revealed: 'Verily, As-Safa and Al-Marwah are of the symbols of Allah, the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم went between them, and we did that with him, and thus it became part of Hajj.'

It was narrated that Urwah said

I asked Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا about the words of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime: 'So it sin not a sin on him who perform Hajj or Umrah (Pilgrimage) of the House (the Kabah at Makkah) to perform the going (Tawaf) between them (as-Safa and Al-Marwah) and (I said): 'By Allah, there is no sin on anyone if he does not go between As-Safa and Al-Marwa.' Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا said: 'What a bad thing you said, O son of my brother! If this Ayah was as you have interpreted it, there would be no sin on a person if he did not go between them. But it was revealed concerning the Ansar. Before they accepted Islam, they sued to enter Ihram for the false goddess Manat whom they used to worship at Al-Mushallal. Whoever enter Ihram for her would refrain from going between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. When they asked the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم about that, Allah, the Might and Sublime, revealed: 'Verily As-Safa and Al-Marwah (Two mountains in Makkah) are of the Symbols of Allah. So it is not a sin on him who performs Hajj or Urmrah (Pilgrimage) of the House (the Kabah at Makkah) to perform the going (Tawaf) between them (As-Safa and Al-Marwah). Then the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم enjoined going between them so no one has the right to refrain from going between them.'

It was narrated that Urwah said

When he went tout the Masjid heading for As-Safa, I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say: We will start with that with which Allah started.'

It was narrated that Jabir رضی الله عنہ said

Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم went out to As-Safa and said. We will start with that with which Allah started. Then he recited: 'Verifly, as-Safa and Al-Marwah (two Mountains in Makkah) are of the symbols of Allah.'

The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم climbed up As-Safa until he could see the House, then he said Takbir.

When the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم stood on top of As-Safa, he recited the Takbir three times and said: La ilaha illallah, Wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, yuhyi wa yumitu, wa huwaala kulli shayin qadir (There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone with no partner or associate, His is the dominion and to Him be praise, He gives life and death, and He has power over all things). He did three times, and supplicated, and did the same a top Al-Marwah.

It was narrated from Jabir رضی الله عنہ that

He heard his father narrate, that he heard Jabir رضی اللہ عنہ, speak of the Pilgrimage of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم : The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم stood atop as-Safa proclaiming the Tahlil of Allah (saying Lal ilaha illallah) and supplicating in between that.

Jafar bin Muhammad narrated, that

The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم circumambulated the House seven times, walking rapidly in three circuits and walking (at a normal pace)b in three. Then he stood at the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as a place of prayer, raising his voice so that the people could hear. Then he went and touched the Black Stone and went (to perform Sai) and said: 'We will start with that with which Allah started.' So he started with As-Safa, climbing up until he could see the House and he said three times: ''La ilaha illallah, Wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, yuhyi wa yumitu, wa huwaala kulli shayin qadir (There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone with no partner or associate, His is the dominion and to Him be praise, He gives life and death, and He has power over all things).' Then exclaimed Allah's greatness and praised Him, then he supplicated as much as was decreed for him. Then he came down walking, until he reached level ground at the bottom of the valley. Then he hastened until the ground began to rise. Then he walked until he came to Al-Marwah and climbed up it, and when he could see the house he said: 'La ilaha illallah, Wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, yuhyi wa yumitu, wa huwaala kulli shayin qadir (There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone with no partner or associate, His is the dominion and to Him be praise, He gives life and death, and He has power over all things).' He said that three times, then he remembered Allah, and glorified and praised Him, then he supplicated there for as long as Allah willed. And he did that until he had finished Sai.

It was narrated that Jabir رضی الله عنہ said

He heard Jabir bin Abdullah رضی الله عنہما say: During the Farewell Pilgrimage the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم circumambulated the House and went between As-Safa and Al-Marwah on his mount so that the people could see him and he could see them, and they could ask him questions, and the people crowded around him.

Abu Az-Zubair narrated that

I saw Ibn Umar رضی اللہ عنہما walking between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. He said: 'I am walking because I saw the Messenger of Allah Walking, and I hasten because I saw the Messenger of Allah

It was narrated that Kathir bin Jumhan said

I saw Ibn Umar and he mentioned something similar, except he said: and I am an old man.

It was narrated that Saeed bin Jubair said

They asked Ibn Umar رضی اللہ عنہما : 'Did you see the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم walk rapidly between As-Safa and Al-Marwah?' He said: 'He was among a group of people and they walked rapidly, and I think they went at the same pace as him.'

It was narrated that Az-Zubair said

The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم walked rapidly between As-Safa and Al-Marwah to show the idolaters that he was strong.

It was narrated that Ibn Abbas رضی الله عنہما said

A woman said: I saw the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم hastening at the bottom of the valley and he said: The river bed should not be crossed except with vigor.

It was narrated from Safiyyah bint Shaimah that

When the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم came down from As-Safa he would walk until he reached the bottom of the valley, then he would hasten until he came out of it.

It was narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah رضی الله عنہما that

When the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم reached level ground at the bottom of the valley, he would hasten until he came out of it.

It was narrated that Jabir رضی الله عنہ said

The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم came down from As-Safa until he reached level round in the valley, then he hastened (Ramel) until (the ground) rouse, then he walked.

The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم came to Al-Marwah and climbed up until he could see the House, then he said: La ilaha illallah, Wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, yuhyi wa yumitu, wa huwaala kulli shayin qadir (There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone with no partner or associate, His is the dominion and to Him be praise, He gives life and death, and He has power over all things). He said that three times, then he remembered Allah, and glorified and praised Him, then he supplicated there for as long as Allah willed. And he did that until he had finished Sai.

It was narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah رضی الله عنہما that

The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم went to As-Safa and climbed up it and said: La ilaha illallah, Wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, yuhyi wa yumitu, wa huwaala kulli shayin qadir (There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone with no partner or associate, His is the dominion and to Him be praise, He gives life and death, and He has power over all things). Then he walked until he reached level ground, then he hastened until the ground began to rise. Then he walked until he came to Al-Marwah, and he did the same there as he had at As-Safa, until he had finished his Sai.

It was narrated from Jabir رضی الله عنہ that

The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and his Companions only performed Sai between As-Safa and Al-Marwah once.

He cut the hair of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم with the edge of an arrow during his Umrah at Al-Marwah.

It was narrated from Muawiyah رضی الله عنہ that

I cut the hair of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم at Al-Marwah with the edge of a Bedouin arrow.

It was narrated that Muawiyah رضی الله عنہ said

I cut a little from the ends of the hair of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم with the eduge of an arrow that I had with me, after he had circumambulated the House, and performed Sai between As-Safa and Al-Marwah, during the ten days. Qais said: The people rebuked Muawiyah for that.

It was narrated that Muawiyah رضی الله عنہ said

We went out with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم with no intention but Hajj. When he had circumambulated the House and performed Sai between As-Safa and Al-Marwah, he said: 'Whoever has a Hadi with him, let him remain in Ihram, and whoever does not have a Hadi with him, let him exit Ihram.'

It was narrated that Aishah رضی الله عنہا said

We set out with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم for the Farewell Pilgrimage. Some of us entered Ihram for Hajj and some of us entered Ihram for Umrah and brought along a Hadi. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: 'Whoever entered Ihram for Umrah and did not bring Hadi, let him exit Ihram. And whoever entered Ihram for Umrah and did bring a Hadi, let him not exit Ihram. Whoever entered Ihram for Hajj let him complete his Hajj.' Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا said And I was one of those who had entered Ihram for Umrah.

It was narrated that Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا said
