A man of the Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'I have married a woman.' He said: 'Did you look at her? For there is something in the eyes of the Ansar.' Abti 'Abdur-Rahmin (An-Nasa'i) said: I found this Hadith in another place, from Yazid bin Kaisin, that Jabir bin 'Abdullah narrated it, and what is correct is Abu Hurairah

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah رضی الله عنہ said

A man wanted to marry a woman and the Prophet ﷺ said: Look at her, for there is something in the eyes of the Ansar.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah رضی الله عنہ that

Hafsah bint 'Umar رضی اللہ عنہا became single when (her husband) Khunais -meaning bin Hudhafah- (died). He was one of the Companions of the Prophet who had been present at Badr, and he died in Al-Madinah. I met 'Uthman bin 'Affan رضی اللہ عنہ and offered Hafsah in marriage to him. I said: 'If you wish, I will marry you to Hafsah.' He said: 'I will think about it.' A few days passed, then I met him and he said: 'I do not want to get married at the moment.' 'Umar رضی اللہ عنہ said: Then I met Abu Bakr As-Siddiq رضی اللہ عنہ , and said: 'If you wish, I will marry Hafsah to you.' He did not give me any answer, and I felt more upset with him than I had with 'Uthman Several days passed, then the Messenger of Allah proposed marriage to her, and I married her to him. Abu Bakr رضی اللہ عنہ met me and said: 'Perhaps you felt upset with me when you offered Hafsah in marriage to me and I did not give you an answer?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Nothing prevented me from giving you an answer when you made the offer to me except the fact that I had heard the Messenger of Allah speak of her, and I did not want to disclose the secret of the Messenger of Allah; if he had left her, then I would have married her.'

It was narrated that 'Umar رضی اللہ عنہ said

I was with Anas bin Malik رضی اللہ عنہ and a daughter of his was with him. He said: 'A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and offered herself in marriage to him. She said: O Messenger of Allah, do you want to marry me?'

Thabit Al-Bunani said

A woman offered herself in marriage to the Prophet. The daughter of Anas رضی اللہ عنہ laughed and said: How little was her modesty. Anas رضی اللہ عنہ said: She was better than you; she offered herself in marriage to the Prophet ﷺ.

It was narrated from Anas رضی اللہ عنہ that

When the 'Iddah of Zainab رضی اللہ عنہا was over, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Zaid: 'Propose marriage to her on my behalf.' Zaid رضی اللہ عنہ went and said: 'O Zainab, rejoice, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sent me to you to propose marriage on his behalf.' She said: 'I will not do anything until I consult my Lord.' She went to her prayer place and Qur'an was revealed, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and entered upon her without any formalities.

It was narrated that Anas رضی الله عنہ said

Zainab bint Jahsh رضی اللہ عنہا used to boast to the other wives of the Prophet ﷺ and say: Allah married me to him from above the Heavens. And the Verse of Hijab was revealed concerning her.

Anas bin Malik رضی اللہ عنہ said

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach his Companions to perform Istikharah in all matters, just as he used to teach them Surahs from the Qur'an. He said: 'If any one of you is deliberating about a decision he has to make, then let him pray two Rak'ahs of non-obligatory prayer, then say: Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi 'ilmika wa astaqdiruka bi qudratika wa as'aluka min fadlika, fa innaka taqdiru wa la aqdir, wa ta'lamu wa la a'lam, wa anta 'allam al-ghuyub. Allahumma in kunta ta'lamu anna hadhal-amra khayrun li fi dini wa ma'ashi wa aqibati amri faqdurhu li wa yassirhu li thumma barik li fihi. Allahumma, wa in kunta ta'lamu annahu sharrun li fi dini wa ma'ashi wa 'aqibati amri fasrifhu 'anni wasrifni 'anhu waqdur li al-khayr haythu kana, thumma radini bihi. (O Allah, I seek Your guidance (in making a choice) by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by virtue of Your power, and I ask You of Your great bounty. You have power, I have none. And You know, I know not. You are the Knower of hidden things. O Allah, if in Your knowledge, this matter (then it should be mentioned by name) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood and my affairs (or: both in this world and in the Hereafter), then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if in Your knowledge it is bad for me and for my religion, my livelihood and my affairs (or: for me both in this world and the next), then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and ordain for me the good wherever it may be and make me pleased with it.)

It was narrated that Jabir bin 'Abdullah رضی الله عنہما said

When her 'Iddah had ended, Abu Bakr رضی اللہ عنہ sent word to her proposing marriage to her, but she did not marry him. Then the Messenger of Allah sent 'Umar bin Al-Khattab رضی اللہ عنہ with a proposal of marriage. She said: Tell the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that I am a jealous woman and that I have sons, and none of my guardians are present. He went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him that. He said: Go back to her and tell her: As for your saying that you are a jealous woman, I will pray to Allah for you to take away your jealousy. As for your saying that you have sons, your sons will be taken care of. And as for your saying that none of your guardians are present, none of your guardians, present or absent, would object to that. She said to her son: O 'Umar, get up and perform the marriage to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he performed the marriage.

It was narrated from Umm Salamah رضی الله عنہا , that

Umar رضی اللہ عنہ said: I went to 'Uthman bin 'Affan رضی اللہ عنہ and offered Hafsah in marriage to him. I said: 'If you wish, I will marry you to Hafsah bint 'Umar He said: 'I will think about it.' A few days passed, then I met him and he said: 'It seems that I do not want to get married at the moment.' 'Umar رضی اللہ عنہ said: Then I met Abu Bakr As-Siddiq رضی اللہ عنہ, and said: 'If you wish, I will marry Hafsah bint 'Umar to you.' Abu Bakr رضی اللہ عنہ remained silent, and did not give me any answer, and I felt more upset with him than I had with 'Uthman رضی اللہ عنہ. Several days passed, then the Messenger of Allah proposed marriage to her and I married her to him. Abu Bakr رضی اللہ عنہ met me and said: 'Perhaps you felt upset with me when you offered Hafsah in marriage to me, and I did not give you any answer?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Nothing prevented me from giving you an answer when you made the offer to me, except the fact that I had heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ speak of her, and I did not want to disclose the secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. If he had left her, then I would have married her.'
